Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?
I have dozens—more than the stars I can name,
They rise like mist from the clay I’m woven in,
A quiet chorus that calls me by my name.
Life is a precarious balance of chemicals,
Fragile sparks in a beaker of blood and bone,
God is a big boy and can take care of His word—
No trembling hand needs steady His throne.
We are eternal beings placed in this chemistry pot,
Souls breathing fire where atoms collide,
Then the question eternal cuts through the steam:
Do you want a relationship with Jesus, the Christ?
Age is the accumulation of damage done,
Lines on the map where the tempests have passed,
Life is the accumulation of decisions made—
Each yes, each no, the die that is cast.
So ask me again when the silence grows deep,
I’ll hand you this handful of truths I have known—
Not polished gems, but the grit of the road,
The living words that carry me home.
